iOS background GPS tracking and location permissions

Configure iOS location permissions to ensure continuous recording with screen locked.

To record your rides accurately on an iPhone while your screen is locked or while using other apps:

  1. Open iPhone Settings → SuperCycle.
  2. Tap Location and set to Always (if set to "While Using", iOS will pause tracking if you switch apps or lock your screen).
  3. Ensure Precise Location toggle is turned ON (required for accurate GPS tracking).
  4. Ensure Background App Refresh is turned ON.
  5. Keep iPhone Low Power Mode OFF during active rides to prevent GPS throttling.
App Still Terminating in Background? Even with location set to "Always", iOS can kill background apps due to memory pressure (such as shooting 48MP photos with the Camera app during a ride) or if Low Power Mode is enabled.
