Mounting your smartphone on your handlebars with high-contrast data displayed for hours at a time can cause uneven OLED/AMOLED pixel degradation (burn-in). SuperCycle is engineered specifically for handlebar-mounted riding and provides multiple native features to eliminate static screen elements and protect your display:
1. Turn on Auto-Swipe to Keep the Screen Moving
The single most effective way to prevent screen burn-in during active riding is to keep screen elements moving so individual OLED subpixels are not illuminated with the same numbers or borders for extended periods:
- How it works: Auto-Swipe automatically rotates through your custom dashboard screens (e.g., telemetry grid, live map, elevation profile, or structured workout targets) at a configurable interval while recording.
- How to enable: Go to Settings → Screen → Auto-Swipe. Toggle the switch on and adjust the Auto swipe delay slider (customizable from 5 to 60 seconds).
2. Enable Auto Hide Title Bar
The top app title bar—displaying the SuperCycle logo, navigation drawer icon, and pause/stop buttons—is traditionally a static element that sits in the exact same pixel coordinates throughout a ride:
- How it works: When enabled, the top title bar automatically hides during rides, expanding your data grid to fill the full display. A single tap anywhere on the screen brings the header back into view whenever you need to pause, stop, or open the menu.
- How to enable: Go to Settings → Screen → Other → Auto Hide Title Bar and toggle the switch on.
3. Disable "Show Page Indicator"
By default, SuperCycle displays pagination dots at the bottom of the screen to indicate which data page is currently active. The highlighted dot stays illuminated in the same spot:
- How it works: Disabling the page indicator removes the persistent dots completely, leaving the bottom area pure OLED black. You can still swipe freely between pages (or let Auto-Swipe rotate them).
- How to disable: Go to Settings → Screen → Other → Show Page Indicator and toggle the switch off.
4. In-App Screen Saver for Long Rides
For centuries, touring, or steady endurance segments where you don't need continuous glanceable numbers:
- How it works: After a configurable period of inactivity, the screen blanks out to pure OLED black—turning off panel diodes completely to eliminate burn-in risk and significantly prolong battery life. A subtle SuperCycle logo floats across the screen periodically to prevent static retention. Tapping anywhere on the screen immediately wakes your data cockpit.
- How to enable: Go to Settings → Screen → Other → Screen Saver.
5. OLED-Optimized Pure Black Dark Theme
SuperCycle uses true #000000 black backgrounds in Dark Mode. On modern OLED and AMOLED displays, black pixels emit zero light and consume zero battery power, drastically reducing display heat and diode strain over hundreds of saddle hours.
